Eel changing colors

My undulated eel I guess chain link maybe? Bt he is usually dark and cream but he turns completely cream gets really light colored? Anyone know why? I'm new to salt. He is about 3 ' long thanks

My snowflake does this time to time. I think it happens when it is waking up or startled. So, as long as it doesn't last more than an hour you should be fine. If it is still this color it could be something serious
