Eel not eating

Dragon moray ki

So far all my threads have bean about my dads tank. But now I have a ? About mine. I have a golden dwarf moray and it stopped eating for 2 weeks inane tried every thing silver sides, shrimp live glass shrimp even fresh lobster nothing.

My Gymnothorax Undulatus has gone up to 6 months without feeding - as long as it otherwise looks ok I would not worry to much. Keep trying every couple days - Fresh stuff from the seafood counter at krogers, or better yet, your local asian market will do the trick.

I use scallops, shrimp, octopus, squid - get a variety of things - see what works.

Agreed. Best food to break a fast for me was raw squid. Second best, was octopus.

I second the squid, Many of my eels at one time or another have fast, record was 85 days for my dragon. I wouldn't offer food as often, once or twice a week, eventually he will bite. Check water parameters, if they are fine, not much to worry about.

I have notice those who own eels have a problem from them not eating. I suggest you to sink in a pvc pipe where he can hide. Once he learns to hide in there try to hand feed him.

Hiding places are not a problem with my tank, I assure you. If you would like to hand feed my eel, just let me know when and you will be welcome to give it a go. After signing a release so that when (not if) he degloves your hand you cannot sue me. (Google an image if you don't know what that means)Hand feeding seems like a great idea until it isn't. Even small eels will bite, and the bite almost certainly will become infected. If a trip to the ER and IV antibiotics still seems like fun, go for it.

My 4' undulated moray eats filets bigger than my hand, and all his teeth point in. Once he bites, he is not letting go.

BTW - I have had him now for ~ 24 years - long enough to get to know him - and never trust him!!!

No Problem - I just didn't want anybody to think it might be a good idea. I spent 11 years working a busy ER - things like that are not pretty.
