With the pebbled tooth eels like snowflakes it is generally safe. The fish predatory types can be trouble and I've seen them take chunks out of the wings of the rays.
I had a tessy eel bight the tail of a stingray before and it was very hard to stop the bleeding.
I was able to stop the bleeding by cartrising it with a red hot piece of metal.
Just be careful!
