How important is egg color and which color is best?
I ask because I went out of town, and put my A. Ocellaris breeding pair on a feeder with dry food for a week. It was good quality dry food, but dry nonetheless. (mostly ON formula 1, New Spectrum pellet) The eggs following this week, were decidedly yellow, and there was a huge nest.
Previously when the pair are fed their usual frozen rations, the nest is big, but not huge, and the eggs are BRIGHT orange. Frozen rations include ON formula1, spirulina enrich brine shrimp, ON formula 2, krill, silversides, mysis, and whatever else I have in the freezer.
I am pretty sure that the color is indicative of what they are fed, but which color is better for healthy larvae?
If we are to judge by nest size, the dry stuff is better. Oodles of larvae this time.
Any ideas?
