Eheim 1262 pump

i am waiting to set up my 150 gallon reef tank and i am still deciding which return to use. i have a 56 gallon sump (custom made), reef octopus NW200 skimmer, and i will be using only 1 return line for the tank. i had a mag 24 ready for the tank but i got rid of that because i knew that it would have been wayyy to much flow. so i am trying to decide which return to use now. i have 3/4 inch hose for my return. i am looking at around 4-6 feet of vertical loss. i wasnt sure if the eheim 1262 would be enough flow in the first place. i have heard nothing but great things about eheim pumps so i though i would consider it.
my other choice i was thinking was a QUIET ONE 6000 but i have heard that they are not the most "quiet".
so do you think the eheim would have enough flow for my 150? if not, which return pump would be a good fit for my setup and is decently quiet? thank you
andrew

I like my ehiem it's great and will never use anything else. I think you do need more flow though but you will not be disappointed in the ehiem maybe do two smaller returns and use as power heads

I run that pump on my 120 and its enough to tap off and run 2 Reactors so i think it will be fine for you 150. you dont wanna kill the sump with flow there is no reason for it, get just enough to feed your simmer and thats it

I just purchased a 1262 for my (coming soon) 100 gallon. I think Eheim makes a very high quality pump and you should be very satisfied with your flow through the sump. I currently run a Mag 12 on my 55 gallon and it's loud and too much flow.

I run one on my 120g setup. You want most of your flow in the DT to come from powerheads. Your return needs to feed the skimmer and the skimmer has slower rate than the ehiem so that should not be a concern. Also to much flow in the sump won't let things settle out and if you plan to also have a fuge section you really want to slow the flow.

Eheims are quiet and very durable...but they are not energy efficient.

After doing more research you are correct to a certain extent. The Mag Drive uses 95 Watts, The Eheim uses 80 Watts, and the Quiet one rates at about 60 Watts so it's middle of the road.

I only use Eheims for returns, they are my favorite.
I've had 2x 180's and 2x150's both using a 1262, perfect flow, never hear it at all.

I'll second on this pump, or these pumps in general. I have one on my set up and it's tap to one reactor and feeds the refugium as well so far, still a lot of flow for what I need. Might run a second reactor if I ever need it and that will be tapped to this same pump. Essentially, I'll be running a few things off one pump so it will save me room for plugs and power/heat.

i am just building a new 180G (dual overflow) reef setup and i have a 1262 and 5000+ (both Eheim) pump for each return . the 1262 is obviously with better flow, more quite and less vibration than the 5000+. what i found is even with 2 pumps i still don't get the flow i want. imho i think u should get 2 1262 if u want to run the reactors at the same time. just my 2 cents.
