Electric Encrusting Montipora ???

I got this at a LFS a while back. it was labled as a X-Mas Tree rock for $19.99 OOPS!!

It probally measures 8"x6"
It has electric green polyps with the same color base.
Sorry I'm a horrible photographer.

It only encrusts it will not branch at all.
The :branh like things in the pic are actually filter feeder tubes maybe vermited worms hat it has encrusted on

My 1st hought was a Danae

polyps are too big to be a danae imo..

polyps look big enough to be a gonipora.....and that aptasia on the back side of it looks hungry

Actually it a yellow polyp....
remnant from my softy tank... I need to pluck it
I do not have aipt in this tank at all

I was thinking the same thing... Hard to be certain from the pic though...

i think its a cyphastrea also, i have one just like it and it spreads fast!

I disagree about Aequituberculata. I have had this over a year and no plating whatsoever. It is only encrusting.

That is nowhere near yellow. If encrusting (not plating) then it probably is nodosa.

The polyps on mine are just a lil larger

I was leaning towards cyphastrea until I seen the close up. It's a monti for sure, polyps seem large for a nodosa but some Monti species are hard to tell apart.

I would say not a Montipora. Polyps look way too large with protruding mouths.
