I have a frag and it just grow a baby polyp out and then the mother start to die. Will the baby survive without the mother? Something black is covering my polyp. It was fine all the time till it had grow a baby polyp out. I had another zoa before that did the same. After growing a baby polyp then it die. All my other zoas are fine.

Did you do the Zoa dip before you put it in your tank? That looks like some sort of fungus to me.

My oompas did the same thing on a massive scale. Started with three, month later I had seven, week later all were closed. I dipped them in revive, stayed closed for a week. Peroxide dipped, still closed for a few days. Currently they are still clearly alive just not opening and I even saw a couple new polyps forming. If it decides to open again it should be a pretty nice little colony. :headwalls:

It seem that the Oompa are very hard to keep.

I can't tell you about Oompa Loompas but judt to relate an experience I had with Sunny D - I bought a single polyp that eventually started a baby, then "died" and popped its head off. The baby emerged and a week or so later the original polyp opened up with a brand new head; it just grew it from its stump. Now both are healthy and open all the time.
