Electrical Issue (Help please)

I appreciate the offer they got it out with UPS yesterday so hopefully I have it in the next day or so. I don't envision the system going down hill in that amount of time. I have lightened up on the feeding until the new pump gets here since all my filteration is in the basement and will likely do a large water change once it get's here.

Good deal

Way to handle this calmly! Pumps usually fail on Fridays right after business hours and just before vacations.
Seriously I've had my share. Helps to have back up everything and ensure your breakers can handle the load

Will likely ride this one until it fails and when it fails again I am going to replace it with a traditional pump. The design of this one is different than the normal.

Whoever told me today to run an extension cord to a non-gfi thanks lol that will work until the new pump get's here Monday.

The saga continues:

So I replaced the pump yesterday with the replacement they sent. I turned on the pump all seemed to be going well. I went over to replace the filter sock and was shocked so hard that it gave me a headache for the rest of the day. I immediately unplugged it. I went up stairs to find my White tail bristletooth tang dead, my foxface was showing signs of stress (black and white spots instead of the normal yellow coloration, My diamond goby was swimming irregularly darting up and down in the water column oddly enough though I didn't see the clowns affected at all by it.

I will not be getting another Reeflo Trident III replacement I am going to switch pumps and replumb to a traditional pump. I am waiting to hear from reefflo, but I believe they want me to replace it with a reefflo Goby. Such a disappointing weekend.

Sorry to hear about the loss.

The up side is that you were not hurt worse. Did the GFCI trip?

Scary stuff when it gives you a headache for the rest of the day.

Man that almost sounds like the issue was not in the pump then and was with the GFCI outlet itself. I say only because it seems odd two pumps would have the same problem even if it was the exact same model. If it was the pump I would see if they would cover replacement of the fish and the new pump.

Also, really glad you did not get more seriously injured. That much of a jolt can be bad news. Did you get checked out by a doc after? Might not be a bad idea...

Pump #3 arrived yesterday. They switched it from a Reeflo Trident III to a Reeflo Goby. It's quite a bit louder than the trident was, but it didn't shock the $h!t out of me so I figure so far I'm winning. I am going to have to slightly modify my drain as it is just barely not keeping up with a drain (Knew I should have put a ball valve on the drain). Other than that I'm going to give it a few days and hopefully I can say this issue has come to a end.

That makes me happy to hear. Let us hope they go back and take a look at the design of their product too! Two identical pumps with the same issue is no good. Glad they stood behind their product and REALLY glad you did not get really hurt!
