Electrobes' K.I.S.S. 40Br Thread

I think I am going to use a heat bender to bend the front edges and glue it to a back panel and bottom panel. Voila! A tank is ready for use. :)

I still say practice building a non-display tank first. Getting seams that are 100% bubble free is no walk in the park (at least for me its not :furious: )

Bending acrylic and joining it are two completely different things.

Im not doubting your skills Christian, just offering a contrasting point-of-view.

How far are you from Charlotte? I know that there are some quality LFS there that would be able to help you get a nice 40-breeder.

Just my $.02. Post some more pice either way! :D

Thanks Agu! For those of you in this forum, hope you guys don't mind my being here! Kinda feel like I belong here more :D

Meuser: You bet I'll be practicing! I actually have done Weld-on before, but not much of it nor have I used the pin method before (Which seems best.. wow what a bad pun! ;) ) None the less as this will be my display I will most definitely get the practice in before actually attempting the display tank.

One of the main reasons why I want to do it is because I can do it for free, haven't had an Acrylic tank before (And aside from scratching has a lot of benefits), and I would like to use my acrylic experience to do other projects for the aquarium hobby. I mean it's silly that I work with it a bunch and don't make decent use of it in a hobby that benefits highly from it

Well I saw some 40Br builds on ths thread plus I figured the Reef Discussion can be left for the more interesting tank builds that don't exactly have a home on this site.

I always thought it was =< 40?

Well I guess we'll see what the Nano Lords will say. ;)

I think you count as mostly nano but those 40 breeders seem to get left out of the nano totm contests. Can't wait to see this tank up and running, is it going to be a mixture of softies, zoos, mushrooms and leathers or dominated by one?

Hi GoingPostal!

Oddly enough I've been thinking a lot about this.. and I don't even have my tank yet! :p My current thought is the following:

I am still planning on making a slanted hill (When facing the tank it will go from Top-left to Down-right) with the hill being supported by a powerhead PVC rock support.

With the above in mind I am going for a mixture of ground cover with ricordeas, zoos, and mushrooms and having one or possibly two leathers for the mid to high cover: One being a Flexiblis and the other possibly being a Yellow Toadstool.

What do you think?

I was just messing with you bro! I actually steer clear of the RD forum as it is a bit too crazy for my taste.

I have a 2.5 gallon Nano sitting on my counter top that I might just have to post... when my perpetual photographic laziness passes!

Happy Birthday! Sweet tank.

Thanks Moto_fish :)

At this rate the bin is looking awfully tempting as my tank ;)

Why do I get the feeling I am going to be lazy this month in getting this tank built!? I better start getting it designed so I can visit the shop in Florida and get this tank done already. First sleep then measurements :D

Dude! Come on.... you can sleep when you die!

I need to get the wifes camera on a tri-pod and get some snapshots of the nano. I actually dont have any pictures of it, now that I think about it! DOH!

Ug.. you don't understand! GTA 4 came out and though I've never been a major fan of the game except when it first came out on PC... I rented it at 12am and played till 3am

Rough morning for this old guy ;)

"GTA 4 came out..."

I think you answered your own question!

Truth be told I had no intentions of getting it.. but my evil gaming friend called me and told me not to be an old fogey, and go to Blockbuster at 12am with him. Awesome and very bad friend! :p

Haha thanks :p

I never trust ratings as we all have different taste.. but I have to admit it is a lot of fun.

Chris.. I dunno if it is on PS2??

I think the game may be to much for PS2's. They will probably only be available for PS3, Xbox 360 and High spec PC's and not sure if its available on Wii.

So I have a bit of a surprising update:

I was at a UPS store shipping some items when I decided to pop on over to the LFS which has very little in the way of aquarium dry goods let alone saltwater. Out of the blue I asked if they could order a tank, what brands could she get, and if I had a problem with the tank not working (seams) what events would take place?

Well after a little conversation and discovery I had her order me a Perfecto 40Br  . I've given up on Aqueon and have heard of great things with Perfecto tanks nowadays. I am REALLY hoping this tank will be the one that works as I would really like to get the shenanigans done with. >:(

If this tank fails I will just make my own acrylic one, I have all my measurements and details so it would just be a matter of my sending the info to the shop in Florida to get it lasered and sent to me.

Rock:

The Rock is already starting to look like it has life on it. The LR rubble itself started to cycle, and the rocks themselves must have started as I am doing water-changes... and the water I am taking out looks like I pee'd in the bucket. I am fairly confident that the rock will be ready by the month deadline. :)

Skimmer:

My skimmer that I ordered should be getting here soon. If I remember correctly it should ship May 1st (Even though it was supposedly in stock when I ordered it three weeks ago, the truck was empty.. so a new order had to be done and I chose to wait for it instead of cancelling my order). I am really hoping they get it this time as I would hate to have to wait any longer for something I ordered three weeks ago...

Sand:

It's still in a bin of saltwater and after doing some saltwater changes it's still cludy as heck. It's my fault as I haven't introduced any bacterial colonies yet, but I may wait on that for now... I would hate to seed and culture the sand and then rip it out of the bin and stick it in the main display.. where it might make the tank angry.

My intentions are to start putting residents into the tank about a week or so after the sand and rock go in.

Beginning Livestock:

A week after the sand and rock go into the tank (If everything tests out okay), I will begin with putting in livestock. The first things going in will be the clean up crew. Now while I would have preferred putting some in at a time.. I will most likely buy a clean up crew as a whole (Good pricing and free shipping).
