My elegance's tentacles are shrinking more and more each day. It started about 3 days ago. Any ideas?

What budman says it correct, but what about your aquarium light? Are they light bulbs? And if they are, how old are they? Usually the spectrum and the actual light bulb go bad in just 6 months. Lights like the kessil or USA Orbit Marine Pro don't deteriorate that much since its LED lighting so its cool lighting so the light will last you years, until something unfortunate happens, but in the most part they lights are the best! Never complained about my kessil, and I love the shimmer effect! The only thing I get annoyed by is how cool the lighting is... I have to buy a temperature controller and a heater to regulate the heat. But for the most part this is one of the most reliable aquarium light.

Your elegance coral has probably got the dreaded elegance coral disease from getting too much light. I would immediately put it on the sand bed in a shaded spot and give it iodine dips for a few days. If yours is an Indonesian EC they come from deeper waters with less light and cannot tolerate high light levels.

I will try that tonight. Thanks so much.

Did this work ? I'm having the same issues. My elegance coral was extended but now it's retracted. My Params are normal and I have AquaticLife Reef LED lights.

I also noticed some weird growths on the side of its shell?

Ah. That's what they are called. Ok. Cool. Thx. But what about it being retracted?

The typical advice is to move it to low flow and light area or at least that is what I always hear. I have mine in high flow and high light for months and it is growing nicely. That being said, how long you had it?

About two months

Check your phosphate if you haven't already, mine doesn't like high phosphate and if that is ok a somewhat large water change doesn't hurt.

Ok thanks! I'll try the water change. It's not really looking good though [emoji53]

Do a water change, put in new carbon/gfo, move the coral to a corner of the tank not taking full light, place on the sand, make sure it gets low flow during recovery, check phosphates and nitrates, and hope for the best..

place it in the sandbed where s there s mod light and low flow.
Also put the elegant in a pvc so the tentacles wont touch the sand.

Place it low flow and light and let it do its thing. If it has ECD it will take several months to recover if it does.
