Elegance in stress

Hi All,
My name is Gur and this is my first post here, I hope someone can help me...
I own a new RSM 250 system which is running for two months.

I have an Elegance coral in my tank for 3 weeks. it opened beautifully from the first moment and looked very healthy.
it got swollen more & more, colors became stronger and they were only a few hours during this whole time when I found it closed and it seemed to be natural behavior as I understand it.
Around a week ago it really grew to be huge, I loved the way it looked although it seemed to be a bit strange, the disks around the mouths were very big and full but the tentacles were relatively short.
In the last couple of days the coral retracted, for a day it was almost fully closed and today it opened again but not as open as it was before.
So I started reading about these symptoms and discovered very interesting facts about the Elegance corals.
A few years ago this coral was considered very easy to grow in captivity and was recommended for beginners.
Because of its beauty and easy care it became very popular and the demand for it grew all the time.
Most of the Elegance corals were exported from Indonesia, they were picked up from the shallow areas of the reef.
In a few years of picking them it started to be difficult to find them in the shallow areas and today the Elegance corals, exported from Indonesia, are picked up from depths exceeding 100 ft.
So when we place a coral from these depths in our tank it has to adjust to the intensity and color of the light, it is very stressful for it and most of the times it will hurt it's immune system and eventually kill it.
Elegance corals coming from Australia on the other hand, are picked in shallow areas and are considered very strong and easy corals for our tank.
The symptoms described for the Indonesian Elegance seems to be exactly how my Elegance looks, large disks around the mouths and short tentacles, and I'm quite sure my coral came from Indonesia.

So now for the questions:
1. Did someone happen to have the problem I described with an Elegance coral ? did it survive ?
2. Do you know of a way to treat a stressed Elegance ?
3. Did someone succeed keeping an Elegance coral in a shadowed area in his tank ? (maybe it could help"ยฆ)

- Water parameters are OK, all other corals looks very happy.
- I didn't feed the Elegance with live food, I tried once but it didn't work and I understood it's not a must so I gave up.

Water Parameters:
NH3 = 0

Thank You !

you must dip it in a antibiotic and keep it in low light.he looks vry stressed in that pic a elegance with 4 mouths is allot bigger then than and he also has no nemocysts in tentacles.do you feed him ?are his tentacles sticky?E.C. did a study on this and cocncluded it was eather a infection caused in shipping or collecting or caused by light burn.he had great luck dipping them and low light after.trust me it does not look good in that pic he should be allot bigger.

It has at least 8 mouths and I know it's not happy.
Which antibiotic dip ? is a dip in Brightwell's MediCoral is good enough ?
I already moved it to a low light position & it looks a bit better now.
I tried to target feed it but with no success.
It's tentacles aren't very sticky.

IMHO Don't touch it for a few days and see what happens. I have a monster elegance. It is my indicator for water chemicals. if my ca, alk, or mg gets a little low it is not as full. Also when I dose heavier it will shrink for a few days and then be perfectly fine. ie change alk from 8.5 to 9.5 and it will look ****ed off for a few days.

As you suggested I will leave it alone, after I placed it in low light position, for a few days and see what happens.
TNX !

look up some of the old threads from E.C. or elegance coral is his name he nows allot maybe send him a pm.i just bought a tiny one the size of a nickle and i havent owned one in 4years and that one was a frag of a healthy mother colony thats still alive at my friends house and huge.i wouldnt even want to try one unless its one of the aussie nano's or a fragged one.i see so many come in and just start to crap out its sucks watching such beauty melt away.b4 you just leave read the posts give one more week still going down hill dip it.

I started reading some threads from EC, very interesting, he surely knows a lot about this coral.
My Elegance looks much better now, I think it looks the best it looked till now. It really likes it's new position and it's tentacles became longer than ever.
I really hope it will make it through and feel comfortable in my tank.
