elegance questions

the tentacles were very thin and short

its not galaxia or I would have moved it already

its close enough to touch flower pot coral--gonoporia and the elegance is touch the aneomome now

Your tentacles or mine? I've read that it is a sign of problems, which is why I am concerned.

Mine has a galaxia higher and to the right of it. I don't think it can reach, but...

Hopefully he will. I'm hanging out reading about classroom assessment for a master's class so I'll keep checking the site on and off. I can only take so much of the book at a time. ;) BTW, I sent you a pm.

You can keep Elegance corals with leathers. Leathers and other soft corals can produce toxins that can affect Elegance corals, though. The use of activated carbon helps to remove these toxins. I wouldn't suggest putting an Elegance in a tank that is dominated by large Leathers or other soft corals, but they do fine in a mixed reef.
As for the tentacle length, it is dependant on the corals environment and health. Many Elegance corals come from very harsh environments. These corals will typically have shorter tentacles and cone shaped skeletons that have not been cut. If provided the proper environment they can grow and their tentacles will get much longer.
This is a pic of one of my Elegance corals living with leather corals. (top left) It is a frag from a much larger coral that most likely came from closer to the reef in a much better environment than some.

Purple tips, though I don't understand why. Aussies live and Indos die.

Elegance--did you miss this post

My elegance has been slowly expanding towards my rose tip anenome---today they were touchin
At the same time the rose anenome has taken on a growth spurt and is now within reach of one of my gonoporia.

Are these guys all kissing cousins or should I put a little distance between them.
