Elephant Ear Mushroom availability

I have ran across a couple of websites selling some elephant ear shrooms with vividaquariums being the likely candidate for my purchase. However, any recommendations are appreciated along with pros or cons of keeping.

Thanks,

Billy

They are known fish killers. When unsuspecting fish like a clownfish, gobies or dragonets get too close to the corals mouth, it closes up on the fish fairly quickly. Usually at night though. I had one about 12 inches in diameter a few years ago and I lost two clownfish to it. I would pass on buying one if I were you.

I've kept green Rhodactis since the late '80s they are sometimes referred to as elephant ears. I've never lost a fish to one.

Amplexidiscus are sometimes called elephant ears. I've heard these are fish eaters but I've never kept one or observed one eating a fish.

Same here i have a 10+" gorgeous elephant ear which has never attempted to eat any fish in my tank. I have lots of fishes that will sit on it, hang around it and what not and it has never once closed up to eat them or open its mouth. I have tried to feed it misis and it has never taken any interest to it.

If you have these Elephant ears under LED's it will get a gorgeous green neon body with purple polyp.

I keep mine in the sand bed and only gave it a small rock for it to attach. This will avoid giving the coral knowledge that it could split and spread since it has surface to attach. During the day it crunches it self together to look as if it was a wave, open brain coral, toad stool wavy base lol lol.

Overal awesome coral.

They are on divers den on a regular basis at this time of year. They certainly can, and will eat fish. Oftentimes though it is sick fish that are caught- but clowns and gobies/blennies are at risk as well.
