EliWhitney314's 40 gallon tank build.

Do you have a cover for the tank? If not, you just wasted $100 on the jawfish. I have my tank covered and it has jumped out several times, many other times it jumped but hit he cover and fell back in.

I would upgrade those lights asap, I am fairly certain that you don't have enough light. And maybe get some more clean up crew. Algae on a coral is a very bad sign. I do like your rock work.

What other kind of cuc would you reccomend? I have 1 cleaner shrimp, 25 nass snails, 3 astrea snails, 1 hermit, 2 emerald crabs, plus all the other organisms that came with the live rock.

What happened with the coral was that I put it right in front of the jet, and half of it died (rookie mistake). The algea started to grow on the dead side, but the coral is growing back on it really fast. So I figured to just let it be for now.

Might want to get a conch or two. I have two that do a great job of turning the sand and eating cyno off of it. Great tank too.

Speak of the devil, the algea vanished the morning after you guys said something about it. haha

How should I break it off?

Check out my new addition.

Looking good!

You can break it off if its truly dead. Easiest if you score it and get a cleaner break. If you just try to break it off with your hands you will more than likely shatter it since its a smaller piece. I try to use an awl, and a pair of pliers. But whatever seems easiest.
