Elliott's Reef: 900g DT , 400g sumps

Hi Elliott
Great info, thank you for sharing.
Tons of good words have been said here and all true.

Thru reading i come up with questions and as i keep reading along keep on getting answers. Awesome. Many reefers think alike.

Now after reading all i have to concentate to find at least one question in order to add my part to this thread.
Here is one: auto feeder of liquid foods. Do you have any kind of mixer installed to mix each bottle before each dose? Otherwise liquid food settles down and doses would not be even concentration.

And while typing one more question came up: someone mentioned 2000g tank that you wanted a while ago, but got 900g instead. I could be wrong reading. Anyway, do you have next size dream tank?

All the best

Thank you Roman120G, I use Reef Nutrition foods which are designed to remain in suspension and do not need to be stirred. Yes, I actually had plans for a 10K g tank but decided against it for many reasons. I sometimes think of going bigger like most reefers but for now this is plenty big :D

Got caught up on this thread after dotcommer mentioned the auto feeder. Epic, keep up the good work! Any chance of you making the vid available for mobile devices, when I tried to watch it again today it said I couldn't on my ipad because the user did not make available.

thanks muttley000, I had a look at the video settings but don't see any options for viewing, it's recorded in HD which may be the problem for mobile devices, however I plan to make another video in the near future and will try to make it more widely viewable including mobile devices

Gooood news Elliott! Whats the new video going to be about? more behind the scenes, nut and bolt stuff? growth, newly added things? All of the above. Can you release a trailer before the full feature hits. :p ---Rick

it will be a surprise :D

I had the privilege of seeing Elliott's tank first hand over the weekend. It's truly beyond words. I have many pictures and hope to get through editing them soon so I can share them.

Here are just a few:

That is an amazing pic, as is the others. The story behind how Elliot got the carpet anenome and the clowns is amazing.

many thanks zibba, glad you were able to come by, your photos are stunning!

dotcommer, ahh, so the anemone story... I received a call from the supplier that he had a red carpet that just came in, so I jumped in the car and drove over there. The anemone was closed on arrival and when it opened it had two clown anemone fish inside it. His supplier shipped it directly after harvesting from the reef, so the anemone fish came with the anemone from the ocean. So, it's pretty cool that they are still together in my tank

<rubs eyes> More, please?

Should be able to get through a few more tonight. Stay tuned! :)

Thank you! It's my new favorite shot that I've personally taken and might be one of my best.

I hope there's an FTS or two in your selection.

I have a few, which I'll gladly share, but I was there midday and the glare made it difficult. I'm sure I'll find a time to get over there one evening to take a few FTS when the sun goes down.

Beautiful photo work!

Thank you, sir.

My pleasure. Great story! I told it to K when I got home.

I apologize for the glare on some of these pictures, it was unavoidable, but I wanted to share the pics regardless.

You'll have to mentally stitch these two pictures together:

Not a great picture but it's interesting -- gongi hugged the acro too long and now the acro is taking over. A sign of how healthy the corals are in Elliott's tank:

Another sign of healthy acros: they grow out of the water!

I forgot my topdown so this was shot straight down through the water:

Again, excuse the glare:

Already looking forward to the next time I can get over there with my camera!

Great pics. Its hard to take pics during the day of the entire tank in that room because of the glare from the opposite large windows. We need to have a photography party and bring out a nice big black drop cloth. Any reason to come out and stare at the tank :-)
