Elongate dottyback

Hi,

I have a 120 reef which I want to stock with many small goby like fish. I have a red firefish and I just picked up a CB yellow assessor. That's it so far. Other plans include yellow jawfish, bar gobies, clown gobies, etc.

Would the elongate goby pick on a firefish?

Would the elongate dottyback get lost in a 120. This may seem like an odd question considering my stocking goals, but I have never seen one in stock at LFS (CB even) and I haven't heard too much about them so I figured I'd adk both questions.

From what I have seen, these guys are incredibly mean despite their size. When I worked at a LFS I distinctly remember one of these being returned for being a complete tyrant. Two of what I believe to be the most docile dottybacks, would be the orchid and springeri. I currently keep a springeri in my 120g, and I wouldn't doubt that he would harass the hell out of a firefish. Good luck

I agree that most dottybacks are aggressive, but have heard though that the elongates are especially docile--anyone had any e pertinence with the elongate.

I have kept elongatus on multiple occassions. I have found them to be very peaceful as far as dottybacks go. I kept mine with firefish in a 54g so I would think a 120g would be more than enough for them to coexist.

Any dottyback,.even peaceful ones can be territorial to newcomers, so uust add him after the gobies and you should.be fine.
