I just bought this unit and am having issues setting up the email part. I can access the unit from outside my house, as well as from my phone. But, I am not able to set up the email part.

Here is the error I am getting in Telnet:
SMTP: server = fb01a8c0
SMTP: tcp connect error - -1

I set up a dedicated gmail account for this unit to send and receive emails. I have tried to use port 25, 465, 587 as that is what I can tell is needed to be used online.

my SMTP server that I am using is smtp.gmail.com
From address, to address, and user name are all the same, using password for that email account. Also tried it with or without the authentication.

This is the JR one. So as of right now I am only needing it set up for temp. Once I get it working I will set up more monitoring. Only had this thing for a week and heading out of town for Christmas. Would like it working before then.

Here is the error I am getting in Telnet using Cons 1 maild mail:
SMTP: server = fb01a8c0
SMTP: tcp connect error - -1

BTW I am using Verizion router. I had to set up port forwarding to gain access outside my home network. So I used:
Protocols: TCP
Source Ports: Any
Destination Ports: 587
Then I put forwarded to port 80
not sure if that is correct for the mail side?

Your SMTP server is wrong - typo. Should be mail.gmx.com.

Port forwarding doesn't have anything to do with email so I don't think the problem is there.

Why are you resisting posting your entire debug log and just showing what you think is important?

Do not port forward anything pertaining to email... that breaks things. You only need to port forward for http (web access)

that is my whole log. I will screen shot it later. Also I have tried it with mail in there. I will try it without any port forwarding when I am home.

what if you change the mail server per above. any luck then?

SMTP: server = fb01a8c0
SMTP: tcp connect error - -1

that is my whole log. Nope no luck. But I am at work right now, so I can't check my log till I get home.

Here is a screen shot of the settings. I can connect to the apex from outside my home network no problem.

If your VZ router has firewall security levels like max, medium, low and off, what is it set to? If on high/max, set it to low.
