Email list

I was wondering if I can get on the email list for meetings and announcements. I would like to start coming to meetings again but can't remember to ask anyone. BTW our house is open for a meeting this summer. We have lots of space and a BBQ! :-)

Hey Steve.

I like your thinking about an email list for meetings and announcements. Unfortunately, such a thing does not currently exist to my knowledge. And I manage the list of members (name, cell and RC handle).

This forum is the place where we make announcements about meetings and events. You pretty much just have to stop by from time to time. You could subscribe to the forum so you would get email about every posting, but that is not exactly what you are wanting.

If people want to fancy this up, we can discuss.

That is one option. Something that NCPARS/RCS has is a Facebook group and their calendar events show up on my calendar.

hmmm looks like I have a forum subscription but I never get emails. Maybe they are getting spammed. I don't see notice of next meeting. Is it somewhere special or am I just blind. :-)

I have no issue with an email list, but I agree the meetings are posted on this forum and i think that has been working

At this time, there's no meeting planned to announce that I'm aware of

i just hosted a meeting 2 weeks ago. We tend to announce the meetings a little closer to the actual date

Except for me, I have too many hobbies and can't keep up. I guess if my forum subscription worked I wouldn't have an excuse. I just checked my settings and I was subscribed. I did however just get notices of replies to this thread so maybe there was a glitch. Email backup for notices and announcements would be icing on the cake for me.

Maybe a Facebook group page would be better. Most everyone has the Facebook app on their phone and if you are subscribed to a group on Facebook, you would receive the alerts on your phone if an event is planned. Also, you could RSVP on there too for an accurate head count on who will be attending.

With Tapatalk on any iPhone or android phone you can also get instant notifications whenever a post pops up on here.

The Facebook thing has been bandied about every so often. And I don't know that everyone that's on here is on Facebook, but I know everyone that knows about the club can log on to RC, even as a guest, and read threads in here. There's no perfect solution for everyone.

My personal opinion is that if you have a smart phone, download Tapatalk. It's free and hasn't failed me yet on notifying me of a post. If not, try the email notice through RC. And if that doesn't work then....I dunno 🤷🏼*♂️

Well does everyone follow the Facebook page?

I can set up a test event to see if everyone sees it.

In the past we just put a post up reminding people about the meetings and to look at the RC forum for further details. I never liked putting personal info up on social media like addresses and phone numbers.

Those who have been around a while know I have been advocating for a cohesive social media strategy for the club. We should bring this up at the next meeting.

Didn't even realize there was already a Facebook page. I followed and liked the page. You guys could also make it a closed group that you need to be accepted/invited in order to view the content. Then people would be able to post things that they dont want everyone else to see. I noticed a few address posted on here and you can access this forum as a guest... so non-club members can still see addresses and phone numbers on here.
