Emerald Crab - bugs on pincer claws?

Hi All,

I discovered today that our Emerald crab has tiny, pinpoint size, bug looking things crawling all over his claws. I say bugs because of the quick way the move around, but they're so small I couldn't tell you if they have legs, or what. They seem to be med to lt brown, perhaps with some white - they move too quickly and are too small for a good look.

The crab seems to be scratching at his claws as though they bother him.

Any ideas what this might be and if it's a problem or not?

Copepods often swarm over other organisms eating detritus, bacteria, etc. probably nothing to worry about.

I have the same thing no idea what they are. They seem to focus on a claw thats a little damaged.

Thanks LeslieH, for the quick reply! I'm glad to hear it's probably nothing. We're finally getting more creatures and fish in our tank and I'd hate to start losing them!
