Emerald crab vs Anemone?

I have a GTBA in my 29g tank and it has been doing fine. But yesterday when i got home, it had retreated to the back of my tank behind the rock. I found a tentacle that had gotten "snipped" off where the anemone used to be and the emerald crab in my tank was only a few inches away.

Am I wrongly suspecting the crab for cutting of the anemone's tentacle? I don't think it could have been a fish. And there's nothing else in the tank that would have been able to cut off a tentacle like that.

I've just never heard of a crab attacking an anemone. But i guess it's possible. Has anyone had this happen, or even heard of it happening before? Thanks for the replies!

Yes its possible, my emerald crab never attacked my anemone, but the clownfish and anemone shrimp that live in it have both snipped of a tentacle here and there. My GBTA is pretty big so it doesnt seem bothered at all. It could be the crab is hungry and actually bothered the anem. alot more than just snipping a tentacle.

crabs can do this

crabs can do this

I had a decorator crab now I was aware of these take stars and other little pieces of coral and place them on there back. Well one day I looked and saw he was near my green bubble tip and he was taking tentacles and cutting them off to stick on him. needless to say he left that tank. but I see no reason why a emerld wouldnt do it also if he was hungery and seeking food.
