Emergency drain?

I am planning in plumbing in a 40b into my existing system for a little extra volume and to throw chaeto/macro in and such. I need some opinions on the drain. I am planning on 1" bulkhead with an elbow and a strainer. Should I drill a second emergency hole? Should I run this all the way to the sump or should I just T it into the regular. Noise is not an issue as this will be in the fish room. Jus looking for an easy way to run this back to the sump.

I have a second emergency drain, and I have it just slightly higher than the primary.
I did not T it off for the reason of freak accidents like snails or fish getting in there and totally clogging it up.

Separate discreet drain lines. Also, power feed the addtional tank from a tee in the return line, not a drain from the DT. Double gravity feed does not work as advertised.

If you want reliability, the additional tank should utilize a siphon system for the drain, and a discreet dry emergency is required.

Honestly in IMO, this additional tank is really not worth the effort or headache in setting up.

FWIW, years ago, I lived at Euclid and Katella. Would go to Disneyland just to have dinner...
