Emergency! goby trapped in chamber

I just bought a Goby today. After he had been in the tank for an hour or so I opened the hood to check something. He freaked out and jumped and landed in the chamber where my pump is. I have tried to block off the other chambers to stop water flow and drain this chamber but he swims under the other chambers and I cannot reach him. I dont know what else to do.

Any ideas...

I have a 12 gal AP

Could you stop the pump, drain a few gallons and then reach in and grab him?

The way the aguapod is set up is the pump chamber is lower than the rest and it actually opens and runs under the other filter chambers so I cannot reach my arm down and turn it at that angle to reach the fish. the only thing I can think to do is keep watching for him to swim back out and slide something down there to stop him from going back in. Unbelievable...I like my ap but I dont understand this design where there is an area you cannot reach.

I had the same problem. I can't help you with how to get him out though because I got lucky and scooped mine out with my net without looking.

I got him! I used a bent straw to softly coax him out where I could I cup my hand around him until I got him up to the top to drop in the main tank. He freaked near the top again and ended up on the floor but didnt stay there long.

someone on another thread mentioned making a cover for the overflow...not a bad idea

I have a Chromis living in the back compartments of my AP 12g for 9 months. He was way too quick to try and catch...so that's where he lives now.

I had a fire fish live in that chamber for three months i thought he was dead and my star ate him!!! turns out it didnt. I felt so bad that i broke down the nano and he is now living in a 75 with all the room he needs

Check this out! He was on the bottom after I got him out. I woke up the next morning and he was gone. I waited and worried and finally after 24 hours started pulling filter chambers again to look(with a flash light) no sign!!! I have heard they dont hide under rocks too much or in the sand and he just wasnt anywhere. Well, I had a suspicion and it proved to be right. with the flashlight I finally spotted him down in the pump chamber, again!!! I left him there and just a little while ago he was out and filtering substrate! I feel lucky!
