EMF, are we killing our fish?

florecant lighting do put out alot of different waves.

sometimes i even get shocked when i toucht he water for hte first itme in a few days. i belive it is from the lamps putting out.. geez i dunno

but its alot of electric over a large surface area.. kinda acts like an antenna

the bulbs are sending a charge throu a gas why coudlent it also effect the air a lil

i remember when i was lil we had a guy come to the house with an emf meter and messed around.. the only thing that was "BAD" was the microwave

i wonder how much a hairdryerputs out.. and at what distance

im betting that it follows the same rules as light ( inverse square)

This has been debated for a long time. The only input I can give is that I have 5 powerheads along with two heaters in my 100 gallon reef. My fish live for what I believe is their natural lifespan. That is usually about ten to twelve years for a small fish, one brutaloid lived 18 years until I killed it by accident. If EMF is killing fish it does not seem to be happening in my tank.

The pharmisudical comanies know there are cures for many of the "uncurable" ilnesses out there, they just don't want people to know about it because they can't put a patent on a natural acurring medicine, that means they can't make money off it. Medical Doctors are mearly the poppets of the pharmosudical companies. My little borther is proof of this.

Travis, you sound like Mel Gibson in that movie Conspiracy Theory.

Also, it is spelled "pharmaceutical" just in case you want to write your congressman about the pharma industry.

On vibrations, I had seen a paper compairing that in production aquaculture.
In that paper, they had normal hard pvc plumbed system, and one with flex hose, and returns that did not contact the tank wall. They said that there was an effect on behavior of wild caught fish that were first introduced into the high vibration system, but that captive raised fish had no difference.
If I come across the paper I'll post a link.

From my understanding the North American research is inconclusive. Scandanavian studies argue that it's harmfull, but only at very close proximity. They claim clock radios are the greatest risk as we sleep for 8 hours right next to them.

The digital era has led clock radios to fall out of fashion. Wealthy technofiles with health plans are in no danger. It's all part of the plan;)

The clock radios have just been replaced by microwave transceivers that we wear on our belt or in our pocket!

If emf exposure causes cancer, most of us are quite screwed. Think about all the time you spent planted 3 feet in front of the television. Or now that we're all grown up, planted 2 feet in front of a computer at work for 8 hours a day? Clock radios!?!? I can't imagine they hold a candle to a tv or monitor.

I got an idea, why don't we all move to the woods and eat worms? That's natural.

I'd be all for that if I could figure out a way to run my pumps. Squirrels in a wheel?

i tried squirrels in a wheel but my pumps are internal so they just drowned. I was gonna plumb them externally but its one of those projects i havent gotten around to yet... just like this months water change

and as for the whole homeopathic cure... my neighbor works for a pharmeceutical company. He travels to all parts of the world asking local medecine men what they use to treat certain ailments. they then go out in the bush of africa or the rainforest in asia or south america and find whatever they need, bring it back to a lab to find the acive ingredient, then they synthesize it... guess what happens... sometimes it works, most of the time it doesnt. why? no one knows for sure but for some reason, all the junk they cut out, all the inactive ingredients that should have nothing to do with whatever chemical they are trying to recreate suddenly helps cure whatever ails the patient when they are reintroduced with the active ingredient. something they call the junk factor. Thats just what all that other inactive stuff is... junk... but for some odd reason it helps the active ingredient. i'm not gonna start a debate about anything; I just thought everyone should know what i do.

Good luck on fighting cancer

ahh but does what those medicine men presribe even work in the first place? Is it folklore or real medicine? I thinl if you saw the statistics you would think twice about what the medicine man prescribed. There are of course exceptions.

I remember seeing a graph of the results of a clinical trial of St. John's Wort for treating depression.

The placebo had better results! It was within the margin of error os you really couldn't make that conclusion, but it was funny nonetheless.

Sorry to hear about your family. I hope things get better.

EMF's can be generated from many different sources. Even the human body has a EM field to it, although its not powerful.

BUT you said your father has been an avid metal hobbist for many years, and you mentioned Tig weilding. Well, the materials used in weilding are often toxic, specially as a molten material and even moreso when released in the air (even in small amounts, the accumulation throughout the years might be drastic). Alot of these metals have been suspected to be cancerous agents, increasing a persons risk.

Realistically it could be a combiation of his hobbies or possibly even a random occurance that he contrated the illness. Many people can give you opinions on this issues, but the fact will remain that no one knows for certain.

Don't forget about the mind. If someone strongly believes a herb will heal them, the belief itself may help them more than the herb ever would.

Do you have data to porve this? Link?

Welders do have a higher incidence of parkinson's as well as other neurological disorders. I don't believe I've seen an association to cancers but,,,
