Emperor 400 being noisey

I have an Emperor 400 that was given to me when I bought my tank from someone. I just started using it along with the Emperor 280 I've been using for nearly a year. The 400 is REALLY noisey and I noticed the flow housing was a little loose. So I attempted to repair it.

The housing parts that were kind of melted together, not through wear and tear but how it's supposed to be, those areas kind of loosened up so I superglued what I could but it hasn't seemed to help. Any ideas?

right, when you say impeller chamber do you mean in the flow housing that comes out or where the impeller meets the large part of the filter. the filter itself? i guess i need to check both, either way. i've pulled out the flow housing a half dozen times and checked it. i haven't seen a thing, it looks really clean but maybe i need to look down into the filter itself.

Thanks, Ti.

The impeller is the thing that spins.
impeller housing is that pit the impeller drops into.
I have an emp, when that thing is misaligned or if there is sand in there it will grind and be loud.
Most noise issues on that filter come from problems with the impeller.

yeah, but i was wondering if you were referring to the part where the spinner goes into or the filter where the magnet end fits into.

i will check out both spots. thanks! :)

Yah you gotta be careful of the part that goes on top of the impeller.
That thing doesn't hold the impeller in place too well after the filter as been taken apart a few times.
It will misalign and cause grinding noises.

ah, could be it.. the filter is used, as well... came with the tank along with 3 other filters. maybe i can switch it out with the 280 and just use the 400. thanks for all your help and time.
