Emperor Angelfish Color Change in Captivity not as Beautiful?

I'm just curious. I've heard that Emperor Angelfish color-changed in captivity doesn't look as good as the ones that did it in the ocean. I'm thinking of getting an adult but I'm not so sure about the odds of it being non-reefsafe.

I had one from a 2" juv to a 6.5-7" adult and the color change to adult was all the same.

From what I've seen, Emperors that change in captivity have a good chance to end up with imperfect lines - matters to some, doesnt matter to others.

Juvenile to adult with no issues.
