Is it just one eye or both eyes? Is it just cloudy or does it look like popeye?

If it is just one eye, I would say (keep in mind, I am a newb) it was environmental rather than bacterial which is what E-M says it is for. A lot of people like Maracyn-Two, you might give that a try. My Majestic gets blotchy when he is stressed. Any pictures?

cottam, you mean SG is 1.009, not 1.09, right? if not then theres your problem. I think eye cloud is a general sign of stress. Can the fish see or is it past that point? Hopefully a little time will cure it.

Maracyn isn't effective for most bacterial infections in fish. maracyn-Two is a much better choice. If you can't get maracyn-two then look for nitrofurazone or furanase. Get the pH up a bit, but not until you make sure the ammonia reads zero. 8.0 is a bit low and it may actually be lower if the test kit is not precise. The pH tends to drop in hypo. Work on the alkalinity a bit. The most important thing is to check the ammonia right away. Is this an uncycled tank? Erythromycin can kill the biological filter. Never use antibiotics in a display tank. Antibiotics are for Qtanks or short baths only. What are you using to measure the salinity? You should be using an accurate refractometer every day. You should change some of the water each day before adding more medication.
