Empty Limpet shells = mantis?

A friend gave me his 58 gallon reef aquarium that he had set up for a couple of years. I added a couple of limpets from my 55. I notice today that the 2 limpets I put in are dead, shells empty, laying next to each other.

Could it be a mantis? I have a mantis in another tank, and he loves limpets.

What else would kill limpets?

lots of things eat limpets. do you hear clicking in the tank during the day? are the limpet shells broken up?

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful. A limpet attacked by a mantis would have holes at the least, and would be in pieces, at worst.
