Encouraging a clam to move

One of my clams is attached to a smallish rock, which I would rather not transfer to my new tank. Is there an easy way to encourage it to move? I've got the rock leaning at a 45* angle, bue the clam seems happy as a clam.....

sorry

I moved mine when the lights are off he came right off the glass didnthave to pull or anything . I waited until a few hours befor my lights came back on

While sometimes clams will detach on their own, once they get their byssal threads onto a rock, they can be hard to remove. Some people have reported success cutting the threads with a razor blade as far from the clam as possible. The clam can be damaged with careless cutting.

If this was a coral, I'd chisel the rock around the base, but I'm worried about having the clam out of water. Maybe I'll try it anyway, but in a shallow tupperware.
