End of 30 Day Copper Quaratine White Patches on Blue Hippo

Hello,

I am new to this hobby and this is my first post. I have concluded a 30 day copper treatment at around 2.3ppm for a blue hippo tang and yellow tang. Both did have ich when this all started. This week I did a couple of 50% water changes to start to remove the copper treatment. Today I noticed on the blue tang 1 big, white, fuzzy patch on 1 side of it. Also white stuff on the nose.

Both tangs are swimming and eating. There is no sign of flashing on the PVC tubing in the tank.

Anybody know what this is? How to treat it?

Here is a better picture.

It is obvious I am having issues with photos. In my uploaded album I sent a better picture. Can you have a look please?

Thank you!

I can't tell much from those photos.

I do see other white spots on him (near the lateral line) which could be viral or bacterial growths.

OK thank you for your input, Humblefish.

Yesterday I did another 50% water change. I used the Hanna Checker and the copper level today is 0.75ppm.

Both fish appear more energetic since I have been lowering the copper levels.

I feed them twice a day using Ocean Nutrition Formula Two Flakes (morning) and frozen mysis shrimp (evening). During the day I hang a piece of nori which eventually disappears throughout the day.

I went ahead and ordered Furan-2 + Seachem Kanaplex + Metroplex and Selcon. Hopefully will arrive sometime this week.

Blue tang is looking a lot better this morning. The fuzzy, white patch on the side is gone, but a black spot remains in it's place. Tells me (maybe?) it is getting better like others suggested while in copper treatment?

Copper still at 0.75ppm and will do another 50% water change today.

My question is since I ordered medication to arrive this week; should I dose? Or watch them like a hawk during these final couple weeks in quarantine? My 40 gallon DT will be fallow 8 weeks May 1 which is when I plan on introducing them back.

Many thanks to everyone here. I have learned a lot from you all. Made mistakes (too many in fact). All part of the learning curve!

Here is an update and need some advice. First my QT setup:

10 gallon tank with 2 PVC tubings
Heater
Air stone
Powerhead
Aqueon Quietflow HOB with carbon filter removed

I did three 50% water changes in the last 7 days to remove copper from tank.

Monday/Tuesday this past week I noticed Blue Tang lying on it's side ALL the time. Not eating much. I also saw the Yellow Tang doing it's normal territory thing, wagging it's tail into the face/body of Blue Tang. So I assume the Blue Tang is under stress.

So yesterday I moved the Yellow Tang and Similar Damselfish back into main tank, a week earlier than I anticipated.

Yesterday I did the 3rd 50% water change and started meds (Furan-2, Kanaplex, Metroplex)

below are the water parameters:

Salinity 1.026
Temp 81 deg F
Copper using Hanna Checker 0.31ppm
pH 8.15
Ammonia using Seachem badge = 0
Nitrate using Salifert showed 100 AND API shows 0

Could the Blue Tang still be affected by the low copper level? Or something internal disease?

I ordered General Cure to arrive quickly. When should I start to use General Cure and stop the other meds?

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you

Hippo Tangs will often display odd behavior (especially in QT) like laying on their side and wedging themselves into tight places. But the appetite suppression is odd, unless the Yellow Tang was bullying it and stressing it enough to stop eating. Can you post an updated pic? Are you seeing any symptoms of disease with the fish?

Here is a picture I just took. I moved the PVC where it is wedged under and able to get a closeup with my eyes. She is VERY, VERY skinny now.
