End-On tank shot

SPS Slave
Someone recommended that I post this here. I cannot even begin to call myself a photographer or probably even worthy of posting in here, but this shot did turn out pretty nice and unusual looking.

Here's what I did to set it up. I stood at the left end of the tank. It was just before lights out, so the actinics were on, and the last MH light was still burning at the opposite end. Using my cannon powershot A80, I backed the shutter speed way back, and played with the f-stop and manual focus until I got what looked like pretty good focus down the line (kinda towards the middle of the tank).

thanks for the nice comments.
Say, I have a question for you photo-bug types:
How can I get my camera to get more length in focus? What I mean to say, is for example in the shot I took here, how could I have gotten all of the length of the entire shot in focus? Do I need a new camera or a special lens or is it just settings?

It's called Depth of Field my friend, or DOF.
I'm still trying to completely understand all the camera functions myself so I cannot explain.
I'm sure someone will give you better advice.

DOF shots have to be the hardest. I can't get a good one for the life of my, but I don't have the SPS that you do either. :D Nice shot. ;)

Very nice colors. What are you using to hold the frag onto the back glass there? Magnets?

See if this article helps to understand depth of field issues.

By the way, your shot is a great one... :)

Thank you, zenya.
The link you provided is very interesting. I had no idea that this stuff was so complicated and analytical. Here I was thinking that photographers were all right-brained. Looks like I have some reading to do...
