How long after introducing a single E. Goby will it start to create a home in the sand.

Mine has been in my tank for 2 days and just swims around.

Tank info:

29G

4 inch sand bed

Thanks.

when he feels comfy he will create several homes but its not in the sand... he will clear the sand out from under rocks or decore for his homes

it all depends on how old he is . if it is fairly young under 5 inches (give or take an inch or two!) they swim in the open water. its only when they start to get longer and their stripes start to go from horizontal to vertical is when they hit the sand bed and start to dig! good luck with yours , I love mine

they do grow to about 12 inches but for the most part they have habits more like eels.. they spend the majority of thier time in thier home as adults

I got mine when it was ~2in or so, and within a day it started to move the sand around. Ever since then, he live in his caves and only come s out a bit when it's feeding tme. BTW, they grow fast.

I had a group of six (bought as adults) and most times i only seen them out at feeding time and they had a tunnel network under every rock and decore in the tank...

My guy is easily 12" and he's always in the sandbed. I got him around 5" and he took to it straight away. Make sure your LR is secured and be prepared to move the sand off of your corals. They're great fish and I'm a huge fan so good luck.
