Before we go any further, I'm not calling ABS bulkheads "cheap""junk" and shouldn't be used, what I'm trying to say is the ABS bulkheads that came with the drain kit I purchased from the manufacturer are trash, I should have replaced them when tank was first put up but I didn't, learning curve on my part, lesson learned..when the connections are screwed into bottom of bulkheads, they will bottom out, even brand new fresh out of the box, I researched and found more Posts on wrapping with 10 to 12 rounds of teflon, so that's what I did, and still would run up to the hex, now I am dealing with salt creep, and drips, the sch 80 bulked head is solid, tight befitting threads on. My connections, so that's the right tool for the job, again I am conveying the bulkheads I received with my tank suck, no other way to put it, no taper to the threads, straight bore, connections run up all the way, bottom out without tools, hands only So, now I have sch 80 installed, I like them, I want to use the, I will know better next time to buy after market bulkheads after seeing this first hand. In shape form or fashion am I trying to say ABS won't work. I'm saying mine are better served in the trash, seeing as I already bought them I will use them, and will install them when I remove the sump/ fug during my regular cleaning maintenance schedule.
