enough/too much light?

I have 96 over my fifteen but people generally put the 96 powerquad over a ten. I dont think either of those would be too small. On the last one, do you plan on making a hoo?, because that is just the light and reflector.

yes i know that i would need to make a hood for the retro..

i was thinking of makeing a stand then a matching hood if i bought the retro.

the reason why i ask if it is too much is because a guy at the lfs said that it was too much light and that i woul cook my tank, but i dont think so, i just wanted to get other opinions...

LFS guy doesn't know what he's talking about (as usual).

Neither is too much light. People put 150w MH on their 10g tanks (I've even seen higher).

Edit: The only problem the higher light amounts would give is usually temperature problems. This can be solved with proper design of hood & it's cooling.

yea thats what i thought..

i was just calling to ask for a price and the guy didnt even give the the price for the fixture i was asking for...

thanks for he responses...

now i have another question

other than foster and smith(or e-bay), where do you think i can find the lights for cheaper?

i may just get the retro from another lfs where the people know me better and will give me what i want...lol

thanks
Vic

You could check out Premium Aquatics (www.premiumaquatics.com). They usually have pretty good prices on stuff. I know they have great customer service, which is good in case you ever have any problems with anything you order from them.

I had the Current Dual Satellite that has 80 watts PC in it. I was happy with it. I have no complaints! I just upgraded my lights over my 10 Gal to 250 watts Metal Halide HQI.
