Equipment Question

I have some old freshwater equipment that I want to reuse in my saltwater set up. One is a HOB filter that hasn't been used in about 2 years (and was only in use about a month or two). I cleaned it out with tap water. Should I do anything else do it before attaching it to my sump? (I'm running chemi pure elite only in it--along with the biowheels)

The second question is where in the sump to add this? The intake with the skimmer, refugium, or return section?

Also if I were to take a powerhead out of a freshwater tank that is currently up what do I need to do to it before adding it to the saltwater tank? (It has been unplugged in the FW system due to too much flow for the fish).

Thanks!

is this a reef tank. also the power-head should be good. someone else can chime in but pretty sure no freshwater diseases can live in saltwater.

Put the HoB in the first part of the sump!

As for what you need to do I'd just soak and wipe them off in ro/di water before putting that in your SW tank.

i would take off the bio-wheel, wont do much anyway . plus if you have the budget i would buy a carbon reactor. they make gfo /carbon reactor together or separate. its so much more efficient than hob filter. but for now its ok

Yeah this is a temporary solution until I get a reactor. Just have so many old HOB filters hanging around
