how would 2 pairs of erectus fair in a 36"x24"x18" "non-photo" tank with non photo lps and acans?

Size-wise, absolutely... Many non-photo SHs are very efficient at stinging things for a living, and SHs are prone to being stung. That being said, IME, acans and tubastrea are fine, I have had issues with non-photo gorgs with my SHs (they dont seem to acclimate to being hitched to like the photo gorgs do), and other stuff may be fine as well depending on what it is. Use caution, think SH FIRST and coral second and only if you can meet its needs without compromizing the SHs needs.
