Erik's 90gal build

Erick, that is awsome. how ofte do you do water changes?
have you tried lengthenig your water changes, to see if your ATS mantains your water parameters in check?

august 15th was my last water change so I know that the ATS is doing its job. I will take and post pics on the 15th of October to show three months of growth under LEDs. the fixture is rocking.

Today I tested my parameters and this is what I got:
Cal- 440ppm
Alk- 8.1
Mag -1440ppm
Nitrate- undetectable :)
Phosphate:)

I try to keep my mag from 1450 to 1500ppm to prevent bryopsis

A couple of weeks ago I fragged a large tyree neon toadstool into several small peices and had to but the fresh cut frags back in the tank sooner than I would of liked. the frags ended up releasing their mucus and the first corals to catch it are SPS. When I got home four of the SPS were completely covered in mucus and two were 50 percent covered. I still have several SPS that didnt get affected and will be posting pics on the 15th.

Also my tank is now being featured as part of Evolution LEDs, here is a link

i know it is just ebay, and anyone can put a picture up there, but it is cool they chose your tank for their advertisement.

you still want to trade for the the idaho grape and scroll? let me know what you have.

im in no hurry...i will have to pick up my camper from anthony in a week or so depending on how the repairs go, i could prob meet you then.

the toadstool i got from you is growing extremely slow...and every now and then it will not extend its polyps for a couple of days.... any tips?

cool, let me know when you come down and we can take a blade to some coral.

as far as the toadstool goes, I dont know what to tell you. in my tank they grow like weeds. the only time that ive had problems with polyps not extending were with high flow or major fluctuations in temperature.

I got a question about your ATS; Did you have to "seed" it with the algae or did it grow naturally?

you can seed the screen, but I just let it start manually. It took a month and a half to start growing the way it is now. I like it

Erick, how much algea do you scrape? would you say half a cup or less? what is the lummens on your light bulb? How about using double the light, do you think it will make more algea? that scrubber is looking good.

last week I scraped off a little more than half a cup. I was suposse to scrape the ATS today but I didnt get a chance to. I will definetly scrape tommorrow. as far as the bulbs go, I was using 23w Spiral CFL bulbs- (2,700 kelvin) but one of them went out so I just replaced it with a regular 100w bulb that I had in a closet and it seemed to speed up the growth process.

For some reason I have been having trouble keeping birdsnest alive. Pedro brought me some and now the are starting RTN, I will have to take them to Andy's place to see if they get better.

Lets count the eyes on this Mummy Eye Chalice
