Established Male Leopard Wrasse under the sand for more than a day.

Should I be concerned?

No new additions. Eating very well and in excellent condition. All other fish fine. I did add an MP40 on the day it went under the sand. It's not unusual for it to do that if I'm doing a lot of in the tank work, but it did not come out at all yesterday and is not out yet today. The female is out and about and fine.

Any thoughts? How long has your established leopard stayed under the sand and why?

I have had mine for 2 years. I have stopped trying to figure out what causes it. It drove me nuts the first few times. Now I just stop thinking about it.

I would call it 95% changed. Still a few black specs scattered around the body.

I think it's behavior is definitely different since the change, including how it interacts with the female.

Over-all, I would describe the change as "less to prove." His behavior is more controlled, more stately. Less spazzy and aggressive. And he allows the female to be closer to him and chases her less often and less distance. He also does a little head down display with flared fins occasionally at the female in the evening. He is also more dominant (though not aggressive) to the other fish in the tank including the purple firefish, the clowns and the tailspot blenny.
