I just came across the ESV B-Ionic four part salt mix. I was thinking of trying it out. Anyone using this salt on their SPS tanks? Id like to hear your review.

52 views and no post? haha. Well I ordered a box lastnight from MarineDepot and will give it a shot. Its supposed to mix clear within 10 minutes and be ready for use immediately. I havent read any negative reviews so I will try it and let you guys know what I think.

Here is the product description for anyone not familiar with this salt. I ordered the 200 Gal package lastnight and am kind of excited to try it. I have used coralife and instant ocean previously. My favorite salt right now is instant ocean but Im always on the look out for products I havent tried before.

E.S.V. B-Ionic Seawater System Salt Mix

A unique solution to many of the problems associated with all dry synthetic seawater blends.

Problem:
All dry blends may not be homogenous resulting in considerable chemical variations not only from batch to batch but also from within the same container. Aggravating this further, humidity contamination during storage can result in localized precipitation reactions.

Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System avoids these problems by providing the two dominant salts in our formulation in separate containers. All other major, minor, and trace elements are pre-dissolved in a highly concentrated two component liquid system. These dry and liquid components can easily be measured for any size batch of synthetic seawater.

Problem:
It is now recognized that most reagent grade salts can contain contaminants (trace metals, etc.) at levels which may inhibit the growth of some algae species from low nutrient environments (oligotrophic) such as coral reefs.

Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System addresses this issue by providing ultra-low heavy metal Sodium Chloride (max. allowable less than half max. allowable for reagent grade sodium chloride) and USP grade Magnesium Sulfate as the dry components of the system. In addition, all other chemicals pre-dissolved in our liquid components are subject to our three phase purification process resulting in significant lowering of contaminants, including phosphate.

Problem:
Many all dry blends take excessive time to completely dissolve. Addition of newly mixed batches to the aquarium can cause irritation to inhabitants upon exposure to non-dissolved salt micro-particles.

Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System avoids this problem by providing all of the slower dissolving ingredients in a pre-dissolved solution form. Batches can be used within 10 minutes of preparation with no adverse effects providing initial RO and/or DI water contains sufficient dissolved oxygen.

Seems like a good idea. Wonder if they will start selling it w/o the measuring supplies so that you dont have to pay for them every time. First a build up of buckets, now measuring scoops:crazy1:

It works just fine, it's a low cost salt when you compare it to other "reef" salts. The plastic cups that they send you with the salt are very inexpensive so I doubt they'll do away with them. I'm using it on a 250 mixed reef for a little over a month now (35 gal changed weekly). No problems yet. I still let it mix for 24-48 hours with a PH and ozone.

I use it and like it especially because of how fast and clean it mixes. I mix the salt for 10-20 minutes and once the temp is right I do my water change....done. No more leaving trashcans out in my family room for a day or two. And no more residue buildup

I agree! One of the biggest pains with water changes in having a brute trash can sitting in my living room for 48 hrs. I placed the order yesterday and it should be arriving today. Cant wait to try it!

I used esv for the first time 3 weeks ago and loved it.it will be my new salt from here out.it is pricey but worth it.it mixes really fast(15 minutes or so) leaves no residue in your mixing tub and the cal/alk/mag numbers listed on the box are spot on with all the tests I did.all tests were done with lamotte and elos test kits.

My LFS also recently started carrying this salt mix. 1 WC and so far so good. Like said above no residue at all in the mixer, completely dissolved within 15 minutes from start to finish (I preheat and aerate the water overnight then mix). SPS, zoas and acans all seem to like it just fine.
