ETSS 800 xr skimmer?

What can u tell me about this skimmer? I know nothing about them


Quality built?
Quality of function?
How loud r they?
Anything else I should know about them?

Etss skimmers are built great. They do require a large pump to run properly but when run properly they skim nasty stuff. They are downdraft skimmers so they use bioballs and the large volume of water to create small bubbles.

I had an ETSS 800 many years ago. I think I had an Iwaki MD55 on mine, so it was pushing more like 1100GPH.

Personally, I think the technology is old. Not to say that it doesn't work, but there are more efficient skimmers on the market now, that don't require the use of a large pump.
