Hi I am the second owner of a 90g 36x24x24 1/2 starphire glass tank that is rimmed with euro bracing supports on top of the tank at each end of the tank the pieces are 7 inches by 24 inches the width of the tank.my question is on a tank this size with this thick of glass are they needed and if they are do they have to be the full 7 inches wide could I take them off and replace them at half the width say 3 inchs wide instead.I can see that in the future they are going to be in the way when I`m aquascaping or simply just doing general duties.I have seen many tanks this size without bracing at all but I dont know enough about strength of glass to make this call can I get some advice from some fellow reefers.thanx Den

I am a big fan of overbuilt tanks, rimless tanks are beautiful but give me the willies. IMO if the tank is built with a 7" eurobrace, it needs a 7" eurobrace. That is just my opinion, as I have seen completely rimless tanks of that size with just half inch glass, not sure if they were 24" tall though, that may be where you run into issues.

TL;DR if it were me, I would not sleep at night with anything less than the factory eurobracing in place.
