Euro Bracing

Is there a way to cut out a section of euro bracing? I wanted to add a filter/sump/skimmer and I found an amazing one. However it will not fit due to my euro bracing. Has anyone ever tried to do such a thing?

P.S. the new system is called the Rapids Pro PS4 ... seems awesome.

i wouldnt do it. i think it will destroy the integrity of the tank and void any warranty that may be on it. imo you would just be looking for trouble.

Just an opinion without knowing your setup, but there are better ways to spend 300+ as well. You could buy a great hang on skimmer for less money and would outskim the airstone driven one that comes with it and be further ahead. Many of the guys and gals on here could help you determine something that might be a better fit.

I 2nd Shawn's recommendation for 2 reasons.

1.) Wet/Dry's typically don't work all that well with reefs due to accumulation of detritus in the "dry" portion that can lead to nitrate.

2.) Counter current air stone skimmers don't really work well unless you have a high volume air pump, a large reaction chamber and a lifetime supply of air stones.

I would either go with a hang on skimmer or a simple 20-30g aquarium as a sump with a decent new or used skimmer.

As far as the original question, it really depends on the size and manufacture of the tank. In some cases, you can cut the eurobracing. However, it should be replaced with something so structural integrity isn't compromised.

Thanks guys. I have checked out so many HOB options and I can not fit any of them over the euro bracing. Hence the issue at hand. I will just have to rock my built in skimmer much more until I find a nano skimmer that fits in one of the overflow compartments. I will make the extra overflow a rock rubble/ skimmer area. This is the plan now. Thanks guys.
