Euro-Reef DIY clone.

I use a hole saw to make the holes. (the kind made for wood with a drill bit in the middle)

I don't know the measurements on the Sedra 9000, but it is quite a bit bigger than the 5000. Input and output are both 1".

could you post the dimentions of the euro-reef clone?

:D Thanks for the ideas tagging along as I purchased a DIY acrylic skimmer I would like to modify. Thanks for the link on the uniseal

I just found a local (10 miles from home) plumbing store that sells Spears 4" schedule 80 slip/slip unions for $25.00. I bought two. The cheapest place I found them up until now is $30.18 each. CustomAquatic sells these for $49.99. These are the same stock number as the ones on that site for half the price and no shipping. I am really happy.

Pikey, that's great find! Do you happen to have a phone number of that store? I'd be interested to purchase a couple for my new DIY skimmer.

thanks in advance...

the sedra 9000 with the needle wheel is 110 plus shipping, and the Non branded version is 29.99 plus shipping. then the Needlewheel Impeller is 40 plus shipping.

I ordered one of these, and it seems to be the same, but you also have to order a new shaft, or use the magnet off the cheap pump and swap the impella only. The saft on the sedra is smaller than the generic pump. The magnet on the generic pump is stainless steal, which might be a problem over time, if you use it instead of ordering a $6.99 shaft.

Can't decide, and need some help. I'm in the process of a DIY skimmer and would like to know the dimensions of the Sedra 5000 & 9000, can anyone tell me? I'm starting to think these pumps are TOP-Secret:rolleyes:

Space in the sump is very limited so I need the better pump for the job. But need it to be quiet also since this is in my living room, BTW it's an 8"X30", about like what Pikey did.

Thanks to anyone for answering this for me.

Oh yeah inlets and outlet sizes would be great also

Thank You:D

Sedra 5000 input is 1"...output is 3/4"
Sedra 9000 input is 1"...output is 1"
Actual measurements....not sure. I can measure mine and get pretty close, but they won't be exact.

The Ferguson's here in town is a Bath, Tub, and Spa place. They also sell PVC parts.

Here are a couple of pictures of the monster I just finished.

By the way...I made it too tall (like 1/4" ... ahhhhh!). I will be selling this one to a local friend of mine, and starting on my new one soon.

Thanks. I think each one I make is better than the last.

Yes, I made my lids like ER with the channel groove using a router and a circle cutting jig.

pikey, on the 3rd page you have one that is setup to recirc the water in the skimmer. Just curious where you got the venturi fitting? And what kind it is? did it comes with that pump?
