my first euroreef.
ahh.. oooohhhh..
ok im a little nervouse.
she was born this morning 12lbs 3 ounces.

this is the 5-3 model 24" tall

the only problem that i could find was the pump foot. broken off a little but does not affect performance at all

i put my multi turbo flotor on the side and the euro in the sump.

was going to sell my turbo flotor and get the bigger euro but i think this will work as well. the turbo flotor has finally after a month started skimming well .. well now two skimmers.

now the breaking in part!

i didnt spend too much time cleaning the turbo flotor will give thorough cleaning later on

it even comes with serial numbers . just like a cabbage patch doll. (my sister played with it ) not me. ok just a few times .

thats the one i ordered it says its a 5-2 but its a 5-3 24" tall
they have a good deal the 6-3 model

im sending in the warranty this week on mine. i couldnt believe it either. marine depot has a good deal on the cs 80 as well 199 shipped

markandkristen that is where I buy all euroreef skimmers anymore. the blem can be that they don't make your model skimmer anymore and have made some changes and you get the old version. as far as I know it is never a performance issue just cosmetic or they drilled the pump hole 1/4 inch too high like on mine but it works great. you appear to have a mix between a rs and es maybe even a little cs in there. it is probably extruded acrylic which these days does just fine. the cs is cast instead. all in all you have yourself a fine skimmer. if I was you I would take that air valve off there and do anything but toss it. it sure is pretty looking but you will skim better without it. some people like really wet skimmate so you could turn the air down but it just doesn't seem to work near as well. I also always drill out the venturi to the next size to get a little more air in there. it makes a noticeable difference.

i understand it has to do with the acrylic as well as the welding of the acrylic. cs = computer store rs = retail store and ..... i dont know.. but i can tell you that after just 8 hours this thing is kicking butt

.. i think the turboflotor has merrit. when i first got it . i dont know whether it was the bioload being bigger or what. but it would make some nasty stuff. i just recently researched thier 20000 series . thats a monster. so i think this skimmer is descent its just takes time. just before i added the euro today it was pulling some nasty stuff. but i cant understand why it takes so long to get going..

ive read on here that the ocean runner is suppose to be one of the best pumps for the price and etc.. i guess its ford and chevy

i like the sedra for only 350 gph. to me the sedra needle wheel is better. it looks very milky when you look at it. the ocean runner isnt that bad as well. i dont know....

cs is the original best quality with I think gray pvc and cast acrylic. rc is recirculating with the same materials as a cs at least last time I check. rs I think may be black acrylic and extruded acrylic tubing. makes it a little cheaper for retail stores to carry. from what I understand authorized dealers could still get cs and rc. maybe cs meant cast skimmer back in the day who knows. es is economy skimmer. blue and extruded acrylic.
I don't know do they actually make rs and es anymore? they change models everytime they need a cheaper or different pump. and then I think they change them every year or 2 anyway. I personally think the rs with black acrylic is the best looking product they ever produced. as far as I can tell they all perform the same as long as the pump is the same.

Bah, people are always eager to bash the Aqua Medics.

My turboflotor works *very* well and cost me a fraction of a EuroReef price. Pulls a good 2 cups out every day for me. It takes more tweaking than some of the other skimmers and I think that maintenance is what turns people off. I've thought about upgrading to a Euroreef or similar high-end skimmer, but my water quality has stayed spot on with the Turboflotor 1000 even given my tendency to overfeed the tank.

Well then Angelsil maybe you can give me some pointers with mine!! That crazy thing hardly skims my tank compaired to my Euro.. I'd like to use the Turbofloater on my small frag tank if I could get the darn thing to work worth a darn..

Which pump do you have on it? I have the Rio on mine (yes, I know it will die at some point) and didn't make any modifications to the skimmer itself. I have an overflow from the tank skimming water from the surface directly into the skimmer, which sits in the sump. I have a ball valve on the feed so I can adjust the flow of water to get the right amount of flow. The main issue I have is that I have to adjust the water flow both there and with the 2 output dials (which control how fast the water leaves the skimmer) fairly often to make sure it's not skimming too much or too little. Too far in either direction results in weak skimmate or no skimmate. Easy enough to check everyday when I add makeup water and feed the delinquents..er..."clowns".

I haven't had a Euro, so I can't compare the AM to one. Maybe it would skim 4 cups a day compared to what I get with mine. The Aqua C skimmer I have on my 20 seems to create slightly thicker skimmate by comparison but the AM certainly outperforms the Prizm skimmer I had on my 29 (which also did an OK job for its task). My water quality is where it should be, which is really how I judge the value of a skimmer. Then again, my bioload is fairly low and I have corals that aren't real finicky.
