I'll blame Roland:lmao: J/K Roland

Wait a minute

You can probably just buy a stock gen- x water only impeller for $20 or so and try it with that (be sure it comes with a shaft).;)

Just got my RS-180 and couldn't be happier. I ran it on warm+vinegar water for a couple of hours, and then into the sump it went. Just started the cycle also in my 125 so it's on it's break in period as well as the tank.

Just wanted to share with you guys

RS-100 question

RS-100 question

I would like to purchase the RS100 skimmer. My cabinet is 24 inches high. I believe the skimmer is 20 inches long so will I have enough space to remove and empty the collection cup?

Thanks!

You'll have no problem with that height you only need about an inch to remove the collection cup. I have 26" an the RS-180 is 24" and have plenty of room left. I say go for it.

Cheers!!

Ok I have a cs-80 that is working great but I recently received the 1.25" gate valve mode to make it even better. The directions are not very specific and I think I must be doing something wrong since even wide open, the bubble line is way up in the neck of the collection cup.

The skimmer sits in my sump in about 9.5" of water (I know this is a little high). I cut 4" off one of the tubes to get the middle of the gate valve in the seam of the skimmer body. Got any ideas on how to make this better?

Are there certain rules of thumb as far as longer risers = higher water levels in the skimmer? Do longer overflow tubes affect the level in the water?

longer risers = higher water levels in the skimmer!

You want to have the "T" low on the skimmer (no higher then where the skimmer starts to taper in to the neck). That way as you shut down the gate valve you will be able to raise the water level in the skimmer.

You can't go too low with the gate valve mod. You can go too high.

Thanks, Doc. I will trim some more off the riser.

hey.. im thinkin about joinin the club and gettin a rs135 for my 90g.. i will be keepin sps and lps and a bunch of fish.

do yal think the rs135 is enough?

any one have any comments about it ... reccommendations??

I just got an RS135 easye123, ill let you know how it is. I can tell you that it looks like it will be great... I have a couple questions about dialing it in. How high should i set the riser tube? Should i leave the air vavle all the way open? Any people wanna help me out dialing this in would be a great help!!!

As far as upgrades go... this is what I'm going to try on a CS80 for a small 50G reef tank... I sold the ER pump that came with it and I'm going to use an Aquabee 2001 on it instead. Supposedly 450lph of air intake on this pump, might be too much, we'll see.

dgill, please post your results with that pump.My ES5-2 works fine,I just want it to work better.I have a aquabee 2000 pump I may try.

Cosmo^Kramer, I will definitely post results the bad news is this is for a new tank that won't be here for a couple of weeks.

The Aquabee 2000 with needlewheel is probably a better match for this skimmer. The H&S 110 uses the Aquabee 2000.

Here was my line of thinking... originally I intended to use an H&S 110 skimmer for the new tank but the Euro-reef CS80 has some advantages: 1) tapered neck which I prefer 2) all acrylic construction and great build quality 3) recently on sale for $198 which you can't beat. Sold the pump that was on this skimmer for something like $40-50 and then purchased a $140 Aquabee to replace it so I have roughly $290 in this skimmer.

For those looking to use an Aquabee needlewheel pump on your EuroReef (and you can use more than one for larger skimmers), here is a tip: the DAS pump is 100% identical to the H&S Aquabee 2001 right down to the impeller and pink grommets. The only difference is that the DAS pump is stamped "DAS" instead of Aquabee. Even the label is the same. These pumps put out ~450 lph of air. You can pick up replacement pumps for $110 online here: http://stores.petorama.net/Categories.bok?category=Aquarium+Supplies:Pumps/Filters:Pumps
