i have cs250 with get valve less then 2 month old that i am going to sell . i have one more cs83 that i am going to keep. becuase i want to upgrade to 240 gallon tank and i sure that this skimmer can handle on this size tank , today i have a small sump and cs250 with the get valve it's to tight and overkill . i think if you going to buy the rs250 it will be good for 250g tank.

I'm curious if anyone has had the Gen X euro pumps and also a Eheim from deltec or H&s.
Does the Eheim make more stable foam? I thought I read somewhere that the Eheim's have the highest air to water ratio, I'm wondering if the Eheim's are rated the same why they are a better pump other than the noise issue. I'm going to go with them I'm more wondering what to expect.
This is my 1st post I have owned a 5-2 an 8-1 and currently a 12-1 RC
I have been pleased with Euro's customer service and appreciate Chip and Jeff's time answering questions and returning phone calls.

Hi everyone

I received my new CS250 to upgrade my old CS8-3. I have a question about the air valve, Any idea how to setup it? Now is open all the time, but I am not sure as is the right position. Also I remove it for a while and the water level on the CS250 down so more air is incoming?

Yes, close the valve and this provides more flow but less air... open the valve, or remove, and this is more air but less flow.

Can I use ozonizer with RS250?
If yes, how you connect it up ? I am planning to use Ultralife Ultrazone 360 - 200/360 mg/hour Ozonizer for ~250G tank. I have the controller and probe...etc.

My main concern is the safety of using ozone indoor which is toxic to human.

Thanks in Advance.

Question regarding my 8-2.

I have been having issues with it skimming and was wondering what the ideal water depth is. I currently am running the skimmer in my 40 gallon sump at about a depth of 10".

Could these be contributing to the low efficiency? Also, I am using the origianl tube that supplies air to the sedra pump, is it correct that if I drill the hole larger and use a larger i.d. tube it will increase performance?

Thanks
Kevin

6" to 8" is the ideal depth. You can increase the size of the venturi to 3/16 by drilling it out. I did this and noticed a little bit better performance

Wow! Sorry to see that happen.

I would try to re-glue it! See if you can find a company that carries acrylic and get some Weld-On acrylic cement, ask them what # would be good for making your repair, maybe #3. Just clean the edges and apply the cement. The stuff works like super glue.

Yikes Kevin, I sure hope ER takes care of that problem for you. I would not be a happy camper if that happened to me, especially after ER always claiming to have the best build quality.

I had a problem as well. I tried to loosen the union on the outlet and cracked the body. I cut the old piece off and fixed the cracks with weld-on. Now I have a 1 1/2 " piece of pvc pipe siliconed temporarily. The factory seal was glued and is now toast. The skimmer is a 12-1 rc Or now a RC500
I don't think a uniseal is strong enough as it has to hold the weight of the gate valve. I did away with the union but the plumbing needs more strength. I didn't see the parts onER's website.

does anyone know why the genx pumps from euro-reef have a lower wattage then ones you can buy at normal retailers???

example ER genx 4100 45w normal 4100 70w

i know there modified, the only thing i can think of is that the needlewheel has less drag so less juice is being used. id like to know more

both are needlewheel air venturi,s

Because all pumps draw less wattage when they are pulling in air.

The more air they pull in, the wattage they draw.

But if they draw too much air, pump will cavitate.

Hi every one, I'm about to receive my RS-180 and I'm also on the design stage of my sump. Tank is 95g and sump will be around 30, I'm planning on a 12"x14" space for it but was wondering what would be the ideal depth of water for it, was planning on 8" but wanted to make sure.

Eheims

Eheims

My last post sounded like I said I was buying another brand, I will be getting the new Eheims from ER
could you tell me the cost of the Eheim pump?

6 to 8 inches. I have mine at 7 inches. If I would do it again I would design my baffles to have just 7 inches of water in the sump. That way you don’t have to use egg crate to lift the skimmer so it sits in 7 inches of water.

Thanks MasiisaM22 I'll consider 7" then, are you using a RS-180?, if so, would you mind commenting on it's over all performance? are you satisfied?

Cheers!!
