Evans Anthias?????

I bought two of them a week ago and ive been regretting it since. It was the first fish I did not do research on before buying and was not prepared for their needs. I have a 75 gallon with tons of live rock and places to hide. they come out often and are very active but I cannot get them to eat, I bought all the specialty food my lfs offers. I have tried a mixture between "LRS Fish Frenzy", Arctic Pods, and frozen Mysis shrimp. haven't seen them eat it once. I am in the process of ordering cyclopeeze but I want to order some other food options aswell to see if they will eat that also. I cannot remove them from the tank in order to take them back to the fish store so I am stuck trying to scramble and find everything I need to keep them alive. any tips?

Mine eat the sf brand ocean plankton.

BTW, Tuka females look a lot like evansi, but are more colorful and even harder to get eating. None of my evansi have ever looked as deep violet as some of the photos I this thread. I suspect they may be Tuka.

Do you think mine are Tuka? They are more pink than purple. But hard to get the colours right in the pictures with led lighting.

Boy, it's hard to say. Did some picture googling and I think I disagree with my prior post  Probably they are evansi. Look spectacular regardless.

A few years back I made the mistake of purchasing some purple queen anthias without doing my research first. After getting them home I learned of their difficulty in trying to keep them. Needless to say 4 out of the 5 died and I had the single purple queen anthias for about 9 months before I broke that tank down. There definetely not a fish I would ever attempt again.

Yesterday two of the Anthias ate mysis. I was so thrilled. And today two of the five are completely gone.

Took some more pictures in case the rest gives up.

Feeding time.

I have fed so much Red Plankton. And they eat so small portions. Only two left now from 5. And one of them is not eating very well. The other one has good appetite. Too bad, incredible fish.

It's hard to tell from this pic but it looks like you have 3 Carberryi's and 1 Evensi. Maybe a video would be better?!

Definitely Carberryi.

I started off with six Carberryi and six Purple Queens. I feed about 5/6 times a day but only in the evening after I get back from work. Although the Queen were constantly feeding they simply didn't put weight on. All but one remain, which is actually doing well.

I've since added another four Carberryi as I find they are easier to look after compared to others I've had in the past, they look great shoaling together and even sleep together with little or no aggression.

Here's a quick vid before I lost the four queens:

No, mine are definitely all evansi. Unfortunately, I've got some weird disease in that QT tank that has killed the tang and now the anthias have stopped eating. Off on business for 4 days, s fingers crossed that I don't come home to 5 corpses.

:( Sorry to hear of this...will keep my fingers crossed...

I came in to work today to find one of my Carberryi anthias dead. :(

I pulled her out and inspected her for any signs of what caused her demise. I couldn't see anything wrong, and she ate Mysis well on Wed. evening before I left. I have 2/3 left that have been in my DT for a couple months after their time in QT.

Well, good news bad news. Resplendents and princess appear to be holding their own in the main display - that's the good news. Bad news is that where there were five evansi, now there's just one. Very strange. I have no idea what got into my QT; and how.
