Ever seen this nano?

I picked up a used tank today from a friend of a friend.

It's a 29gallon acrylic all in one tank.

It's 24" long in the back, and 16" long in the front.
15 1/2 " tall
16" deep
The back chamber is 4 1/2" deep

It's in very good shape, but very dirty. I'll clean it and get it up and running after I move in about 5 weeks.

The protein skimmer is huge, 18" tall. The previous owner said it works very well.

There is no brand or writing on the tank at all. He purchased it from Aquatica in Tinley Park, IL but they were closed today. I'll call them tomorrow for info.

It came with a 96w quad blub power compact, but I want to get metal halides. Anyone have any advice on what to get for a tank like this?

Here are a few pictures.

Looks like it could be a great setup. I would go with a 150 watt 14k bulb for the tank. Could you snap a pic of the inside of the canopy?

If you get a MH, make sure you do not use the hood. It will melt that sucker down and even if it didnt, it would toast your tank.

Ive seen those tanks up at Aquatica, they are pretty cool tanks. Last I checked they were really expensive too.

Looks like a great little set-up you got there! Congrats. I agree with Bennerkla, if you go with a Mh, get a 150-watt. I see a 20" 150-watt 14K Mh Sunpod in your future. I just got one today and have fallen in love with the ease and how well the unit's put together, it also looks really nice on the outside. I've also heard nothing but great feedback on it. How much did you pay for that set-up if you don't mind me asking? It looks like a real quality set-up and should provide you with a lot of fun.

I got it for $130.

I need to add a pump for the back, and maybe a few more things as well as I check it out more thoroughly. The guy that I bought it from said it was over $600. Not sure if that could be right though.

I just wanted an upgrade from my 12gal nanocube and this looked to be a good one.

Bennerkla, the last picture is the inside of the hood.

Does everyone agree that if I go metal halide I can't keep the hood? I like the sunpod idea, 24" would be idea if they make that size.

THe nice thing about the 24" Sunpod that the 20" doesn't have is an internal timer so you can set your timer and forget about it. Also they both have 6 white LED's and 6 blue LED's for moon and simulated actinic lighting.

I have the exact same nano!
its a 25g innovative plastics flatback hex
paid $750 for tank, canopy, & stand.
have 3X65w pcs with fan.
I love it!!

Thanks for the info reefboy.

I'll try to find a stand that'll work for this, I found the exact one for this tank but it's $222. I'll use that money for a light.

I found the tank for $299 and the canopy for $95.

I'll probably toss the canopy and put a sunpod on the tank.

I'll post pictures in 5 weeks or so once this is up and running.
