Everyone Safe?

We are safe here in Beech Bluff, outside of Jackson and in Madison County. Our daughter from Mphs was here for a meeting and ended up staying over due to the weather. I sat up 3 cots in out basement workship, which is partially underground. We spent over an hour down there. We are in the house now and closely watching the weather. Nick is safe. He works at Medtronic, right across from the airport. He said 8 workers were trapped in a warehouse down the road from him and all got out safely. BIL works for Mfs FD and was setting up command post at Hickory Ridge Mall. Apparently there was lots of damage to the Sears store there and several people trapped inside. There have been 2 confirmed deaths here in Madison county. Two students are still trapped in the dorms at Union, which is my Alma Mater and just across the bypass from work at BCBS. My boss reported that the power was out at my office, but the building was still standing. Many businesses, homes and churches, as well as Union have been destroyed or had major damages. Please pray for Madison County. This is the third time we have had this happen and the second time for it to hit Union with this time said to be 10x worse than the previous time. I was in Goodwill about 5:30 and there was a kid in there buying bedspreads. He looked to be a college student and was concerned his car was going to be damaged by hail. He was buying bedspreads to cover his car with. He asked if it hailed much in this area. If he was a UU student, his car may be destroyed, as all the cars in the parking lot there were.

We are in Parkway Village and All is fine with us too . My yard swing is pretty twisted up but other than that I think we fared pretty well. I was watching the movement of the storms on TV and praying for all in the track of the storms. I have a new generator still in the box that I bought last year before I set up the 90 gallon and I sure am glad I did not need to get it out . Our power never blinked here .

the second storm hit here on the poor side of town about 10pm,just high winds, maybe Andy will chime in and let us know if first class is ok,

it hit union about a quarter mile from my house. the wind didn't even pick up here but it tore up the school and then went into some neighborhoods on the other side of the by pass. i was without power for about 5 hours but had my battery powered airstone to keep the tank going.

The business park that I work at on the corner of Raines and Mendenhall got tore up pretty bad. Half the Coors plant is severly damaged. One building on the corner is completely gutted and another severly damaged. Other than that, down power lines, sheered trees and debris everywhere. I am work today surveying damage to IT systems. Only one of our three buildings is up since we have a nice generator.

I had to work over-time today. They called me in early this morning to setup an emergency management center in the basement of Jackson Police Department. Then I had to go help get one of our mobile command centers online at Union University. We had a crew from Cisco there helping to get equipment configured and fiber to our network. It is now setup with VOIP phones, internet, and connections to our servers. They can see all city police vehicles on the widescreen lcd now and manage them. I got to feel the cold breeze while on the side of a telephone pole getting some Cisco equipment mounted and online. It was an interesting day. I'm sure tomorrow will be busy, too. There are parts of Jackson still without electricity.
