Everything in my 75 gallon tank is always hiding!

When you look at my 75 gallon, it appears empty because everything hides. They barely peak out to eat, then go back into the rock work. All parameters are kosher and on point and the 2 corals I have (a torch coral and a few radioactive dragons eye zoas) are doing awesome and never closed.

Any tips on getting my little buddies to come out more often?

There aren't many things in it because I add things slowly but I would think what I do have would be out and about more.

Current stock list

2 clownfish - hosting a powerhead like a couple of clowns. They are the most visible but they never leave that powerhead.

1 blue green chromi - hides in the rock work in the same spot, when I come by to make sure he's still alive, he sees me, scoots over out of my view.

1 Mccloskers wrasse - I see him rarely.

1 yellow watchman goby - hides in the same spot in a rock, unless he's with the pistol shrimp in the back of the tank, which he hides from anytime I come over.

1 candy cane pistol shrimp - I didn't even know it was still alive until the YWG finally paired up with it a month after it was added and only for a day. Then the YWG left to go hide in the rock across the tank again and once every couple weeks will spend a night with the pistol shrimp then leave to the other side of the tank for weeks.

1 cleaner shrimp - hides in the same spot in the rocks. I see its antenna and then it hides when I come near.

1 peppermint shrimp - hides in the same spot under a rock.

1 emerald crab - hides when I come close. Rarely see it.

1 pom pom crab - surprisingly, I see this guy pretty often even though I read they are the ones that are supposed to hide.

1 bumblebee shrimp - Small, but when I do see him, he doesn't hide, he's just small.

The snails and hermits are always out and about but everything else is always hiding.

how often you feed your fish?
before my fish doing same thing but after I cut off feeding time only 3 time /w ,then they need to stay out of a rock a lot of time to hunt there food.

That's a good point. I feed pretty frequently. Twice a day and liberally.

A scissor tail dartfish would bring them all out. It has that magic power. lol. 😃

The open water fish you see are hiding because there arent many open swimmers in your tank. When fish that in the wild are used to seeing a bunch of fish in the water dont see any, this is a sign of a predator nearby. If you add more open water swimmers they will all draw each other out.

yes, more water column swimmers will definitely help. I recommend a dartfish such as a fire goby, etc. My fire goby helps newcomers to swim around in my tank.

Any suggestions of what else I should add?

As soon as I can find some I'll be putting in some bartletts anthias and after my tank is a year old (its currently 6 months) I'll add a mandarin dragonnet.

A Barlett's Anthias would be a good idea like you already said. Mine is always out looking for food and I also feed two very small servings a day.

Excellent. How many should I add? A trio? I have a 75 gallon 4 ft tank and you see the current stock list.

You should be able to do a trio since you don't have too much in the tank already. I only have a single one and it's very content. It's up to you if you want more diversity within your tank or some schooling in your tank.

I would recommend 5 or more of the bartletts. IME they are a more aggressive anthias amongst themselves and other anthias, so a trio may not be able to disperse aggression as well as 5 or more. Another option is a more peaceful, yet still hardy anthias such as dispar, ignitus, or randalls.
