Evicting my 4" clarki

I have 4 btas in my tank along w/ a huge clarki & a 2" maroon clown. I know different species of clowns shouldnt be mixed, but the maroon along w/ a nem was a gift from my husband. I had a hard time deciding betweent the 2 @ our lfs. Chose the clarki & the nem she was hosting. The hubby surprised me w/ the maroon the following week. (they have been in the tank for over a year)
We had a few issues in the beginning, but all has been well until lately.

The clarki has decided to take over the maroon's bta, (on the other side of the tank) although she has 2 of her own that she is hosting.

The clarki is a spitfire & attacks my hand (has drawn blood several times) whenever I get close to her nems. The maroon is very submissive.

I want to get rid of the clarki & add another maroon hoping they will pair.

Does anyone think I will have a problem w/ this? I have heard that maroons have a hard time allowing another one in the tank if they are not introduced @ the same time.

Your best bet is to get a tiny (1/2" to 1 inch) maroon. It is best to add a much smaller maroon, as the big one will let it know right away who is the boss. If you add another that is only a little smaller, they may battle over who is in charge, instead of the little one being submissive immediately. I added a small 2" maroon in with a large established one (4 to 5") and there was never an issue. They are a happy couple. Never add a bigger maroon in with a small established one as the little one will try to defend it's home and major battles will occur.
